Campfire, Base & Crafting Guide
The campfire is your safe zone, map unlock, and main base. Upgrade it to expand the forest you can reach, keep spare fuel nearby, and spend extra wood on beds, storage, and the crafting bench — not only on dumping logs into the fire.
Why the fire comes first
A stronger campfire usually means a larger safe radius and more of the map opening up. If the fire is starved, nights get lethal and your team spends every day in emergency wood runs instead of progressing.
Cultists and other enemies can still hit camp. A high fire does not replace weapons, positioning, and paying attention.
Fuel without wasting the run
Early on, logs are the easy fuel. Later, individual logs do less for upgrades and are often worth more as crafting wood. Search buildings for better fuel, keep an emergency pile next to the fire, and do not spend the last of it on a vanity upgrade during a dangerous night.
Beds and the day counter
Beds are one of the main ways to move the day counter faster so you spend fewer nights in the late-game threat range. Craft beds when the bench allows instead of stockpiling random junk.
Crafting priorities
Typical order that saves runs: campfire upgrades, storage so loot is not all in one backpack, navigation tools for longer trips, beds, then stronger weapons before child-rescue compounds.
