How to Survive the Nights (and the Deer)
Use daylight for gathering and rescues. Start heading home before sunset. At night, stay near camp. The Deer cannot be treated like a normal enemy — flashlight stuns, space, and not panicking matter more than dumping every weapon into it.
Day vs night
Day is for wood, food, scrap, the Pelt Trader, and child rescues. Night is for staying alive. If a trip cannot finish before dark, turn around early — getting lost at dusk is a common wipe.
The Deer
The Deer is the forest’s signature threat. You do not play it like a boss you grind down. When it commits to a chase, face it, use the flashlight to stun, then move toward camp or cover instead of standing still.
Panic-sprinting in a straight line through open ground is how chases get worse. Give yourself room, avoid dead ends, and warn teammates so they do not run into the same path.
Many runs report a calmer first night. Do not treat that as a forever rule — after the opening, assume you need to be inside the fire’s safe area before sunset.
Food and healing
A squad with great weapons still fails if nobody hunted or cooked. Keep part of the food and bandages at camp. Every explorer should carry enough to survive a delayed return. Do not put the entire stash on one player who might go down far from base.
