Anime Vanguards Tips, Tricks & Strategy

Place AoE units on map bends for maximum coverage, upgrade your main DPS first, check enemy types before each wave, and save Yen for boss rounds.

Unit placement strategy

Do not just line up units along the path. Place AoE (area of effect) units on corners and bends where enemy lanes turn. This lets them hit enemies from two directions at once, doubling their effectiveness.

Place single-target DPS units further back or in spots with good coverage of the whole path. Save prime corners for AoE units.

Upgrade priority

It is always better to fully upgrade one strong unit than to spread Yen across three weak ones. Focus your Yen on leveling your main DPS unit first, then upgrade AoE units for wave clear, and finally support or farm units.

Watch your Yen income carefully. Do not place so many units early that you cannot afford upgrades when tougher waves arrive.

Check the enemy list

Before each round starts, you can usually see what enemy types are coming. If a boss is incoming, save Yen to deploy or upgrade a boss-killer unit. If a fast wave is coming, make sure your AoE units are upgraded to handle the volume.

Build a balanced team

A good team has four types of units: main DPS for bosses, AoE for wave clear, support for buffs or healing, and farm units to boost income. Do not run six DPS units; you will run out of Yen and struggle with waves.

Evolution and long-term upgrades

As you unlock evolution materials, prioritize units you plan to keep long-term. A fully evolved Epic unit can outperform a freshly pulled Vanguard. Do not chase rarity alone; invest in units that fill roles your team needs.
